I wish I would have thought to keep the rocks I collected as a child from this nifty "hidden" pool in a small stream feeding the Frio River near where were used to camp a lot when I was a teen.

Can you go back there now and get some stones? They won't be the same ones you collected as a kid, but the act of collecting them anew, in that same spirit as when you were younger, could be a powerful experience.

Sadly, no. About ten years ago the private camp ground this was on closed and the land was bought up by some corporate farm. I wish I would have though of this before this happened.

Aw. That sucks. You can have your mental rocks though! Smiley
I have a few rocks I collected walking down the side of a major road the first time ever, which sadly was this year, my 17th year... So sheltered.

They are rather gorgeous rocks. I didn't really look for some of them, they just stood out to me, and my golden rule in that process was that if they didn't come up easily without much fuss, then they weren't meant to be removed, but rather just marveled at and respected. A nice big gorgeous one was amongst those....

I collected 5 rocks, which after looking at them I decided they each represent an element for me... I will have to upload pictures of them sometime... If I can find the cord.  Roll Eyes ALways losing things...

I still have the nifty pool in mental form.  Cool

I really should have looked harder when I was a teen. Mom wanted "holey" rocks (rocks with holes in them) for her garden so we drove around and checked out all the new road cuts in the hill country. Unfortunately, I was too focused on finding those holey rocks to notice much else.

I used to do mental sacred space but these days I find it hard to focus.

Methinks we need a "Scattered Brain Anonymous".... Focus is not my friend lately.

*raises a hand* Hi, I'm PW, and my brain is scattered and unfocused....

My bedroom is my temple, and even though the rest of the house is energetically a mess most of the time
mine too. i would really like to do at least lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram in whole house (it isn't pagan practice, but it's great for getting out residual energies and cleaning out house), but someone is always frenetically running around house and i can't concentrate  Grin

I'm sure this post might belong somewhere else, if it does I'm sorry. I'm still a newbie.
I was wondering if anyone else has Sacred Space like I do?
I think I was reading a Ravenwolf book and she talked about Sacred Space in your mind. I've set up my own "garden." I don't have physical Sacred Space because we don't have enought space and my husband is a different faith than I am.
I go there when I try to meditate and whenever I can't sleep. I have a Grecian temple there (three of my deities are Greek) I also have Celtic and Norse themes there too. (as you can guess I have one God from the Celtic and one from the Norse Pantheons)

 Valkyriia

Thank the Goddess for mental sacred space.  I had a bit of a rugged childhood - and would never have survived bits of it without my own mental sacred space.  I had never thought of it in just those words, but that's what it is.  I still have it, and still retreat to it on occassion.  It is nothing but a huge grassy field - brown grass taller than my head so that when I sit down in the soft dirt I am quite hidden.  The wind is blowing, always.  And the quiet, ahhhhh, the quiet.

I have a newer mental space now.  For some years I was a member of a lovely group of women over 40 on the Internet. For fun the mediator asked us to create our own imaginary home.  These homes grouped themselves into a village, with a park/garden in the central square.  In the park is a meditation/yoga place, a circular white building with statues of our favorite gods/goddesses set into niches around the walls.  I go there, or walk in the garden, or hang out in "my house" in that place or visit the other ladies.  Although we've all gone our own ways and I'm not even in contact with some of them anymore - we're all still there.  I can't explain what a magical experience or place it is.

In the mundane world, I've been lucky to have one place or another to set up my own sacred space, often both indoors and out, since I began practicing.  Outdoors are always my favorite but because I seem to live in windy places, not too good for burning of candles (incense and smudge sticks go like gangbusters tho!) The big ranch I actually built a circle of stones, stones I gathered on our journey from Oklahoma to New Mexico and stones found on the ranch.  When we moved I removed only one stone, one I could not bear to part with, and brought it with me here.  I could easily walk to that circle, we only moved 1/4 of a mile or so but for various reasons I do not right at this point in time.  This little ranch has a lovely small round gazebo at the far end of the property.  I have cleansed and blessed it, and I do meditate there or often just retreat there (three water signs and animals in one small trailer) but I haven't yet really added or done anything to "really" make it a sacred space.  We moved in November and at this point there are still more days weather would make it uncomfortable than not.  Perhaps if we manage to stay here, through the summer I will create more of a little haven there.  I have some ideas...
