Earth Hour is at the end of this month, for those who haven't heard about it. It is a world wide turning off the lights for one hour to send a world wide message about global warming. If you are interested and would like more info here is the link.

I haven't heard about it. But just musing about the concept, and I thought to myself, gosh just imagine what the effect would be if a load of people did actually turn their lights off for the exact same hour all over the world- can you think what the graphs of energy usage would look like? This huge slump right in the middle.

I did it, but as I live in Houston (oil city...), I think I was the only one that did. Does anyone know how it went in the rest of the world?

I never saw anything on it except here -- so I suspect it fizzed.

Well, I was sure it fizzled in Texas anyway. The article in the Houston Chronicle said that in other states, a few cities were enthusiastic and were asking the businesses to participate. That's what I was mainly curious about. And not just in the US, apparently a lot of people and businesses participated in Sydney, where the idea started a couple years ago.

I also live in Houston (Pasadena) and there were a few in our area that did do it. As far as I have heard it did well. Chicago and Atlanta were pretty good about it. The Earth Hour people are already gearing up for next year, I think they are hoping to multiply the participants every year. I'll keep doing it, we had fun and every person can make a difference.

Oh good. I'm glad it wasn't a total bust.
