At least one candle burns in the Central Valley for Chavi.

You left behind a legacy, Chavi, and I honor it on this day. May happiness and joy follow you in your new life, wherever it may be.

There's a candle burning brightly in south-central Washington state for Chavi. It was kindled a few minutes after 8 PM tonight.

You're missed but will NEVER be forgotten, Chavi.

Candle burning on the West Coast.  I started around 7:30 and it'll be up for a few more hours.  Hat on and thinking of Chavi.

I lit my candle at about 8:30 CDT, and will be blowing it out in a few minutes when I go to bed.  I'll be saying the 11th Collect from the (Thelemic) Gnostic Mass for her - I'll post it here if anyone would like that.

Silly me forgot yesterday, so I'm lighting mine tonight very soon, as the sun's almost down. I remember Chavi gave me some tips on nice places to visit in New Orleans when we went a few years ago. One of my friends moved to Baton Rouge and just sent me a box of beignet mix.

So when I finally make the beignets, I'll be making one for Chavi too. I wish I'd gotten to meet her.

If you were a member of The Cauldron any time from about 2003 to early 2006, you will remember Chavi (aka Storyteller Cat and, in offline life, Cathlene Patricia McKenna) and starting in early 2005, her ever positive reports on her battle with a rare form of cancer. (You can read some of those posts here on our slow 2005 Archive Board.) The odds were against her from the beginning, but that did not stop her from fighting hard to turn to be one of the rare survivors. And for a time it looked like she really might overcome those long odds. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be so.

Sunday, April 1, 2007, marks the first anniversary of Chavi's passing. This board has not been the same without her. We've decided to honor her by asking all Cauldron members who knew her, knew of her, or who did not know her but just want to help honor a wonderful person (and wish to participate) to light a candle in her honor at 8pm your local time on April 1st and let it burn for at least an hour. The object is to have 24 hours of candles burning for her -- one hour at a time around the world. Given things like oceans and the like, this may not be completely possible, but I'll bet we can come close.

The time would be marked in your time zone so it would be like a 24-hour honoring of a wonderful person.

If you want to participate, please post in here. Everyone, regardless of religion, is welcome to participate.  If you can't participate at 8pm your time, feel free to pick a different hour, Chavi would not have cared cared. Smiley

I woke up at 3:10am Sunday morning, briefly, and laughed when I realized what time it was.

I went back to sleep, then when I got up I made coffee and put on the little bitty green plastic bowler hat from St. Pat's day I had.  I wore that until later in the day when I swapped hats for an Australia baseball cap I have.  I wore that one until nearly 9pm, when I switched once more, for the black veiled cap with waxed roses and daisies on it, and I lit the candle for the night.  Throughout the day, folks I ran across asked about my hats- for I rarely wear them.  I got to share Chavi with them.  My daughter sported a hat, too.

It's been a year and two days since I last heard her voice.
I miss her.
But, she's ever with me in my thoughts.

So, I say again, Chavi, dearest, Until we meet again, in this world or in Tir na Nog, I love you.  Be well.

Here you go: Smiley

Unto them from whose eyes the veil of life hath fallen may there be granted the accomplishment of their true Wills; whether they will absorption in the Infinite, or to be united with their chosen and preferred, or to be in contemplation, or to be at peace, or to achieve the labour and heroism of incarnation on this planet or another, or in any Star, or aught else, unto them may there be granted the accomplishment of their wills; yea, the accomplishment of their wills. Certainly!  Aumgn is a variant spelling of aum (om, like the mantra) - Crowley did that sometimes.  Wink  MGN = 93 using isopsephy, which is assigning numerical value to greek letter.  93 is an important Thelemic number (sometimes used as a shorthand greeting) - Thelema (Will) and Agape (Love) both enumerate to it.

The AUMGNs are sort of toned or chanted - generally I've heard it as om sort of with a subtle "n" sound at the end.  So it sort of sounds like "Amen" too, which I think fits.

I understand. It's sort of like a gutteral, back of the throat "Amen", yes?

Sorta.  More like "ohhhmmmmmnnnn" chanted. The "G" doesn't seem to get said much.  Smiley

Hello all...

I have some things to say about Chavi.  I have never posted in this forum before.  Should I make a new topic, or is there still a thread with collections of memories of Chavi that I could contribute to?

cheers,
casswood

I have our candle ready to light. I also have a vase of flowers next to it.

I woke up this morning thinking about Chavi. I really miss her.

Welcome to The Cauldron!

We had a thread like that on our old board. Having one here would probably be a good idea. I'll try to start one today or tomorrow in the Special Topics board.
