I'm trying to preform a pretty lengthy ritual this weekend and I saw that the moon was red. I was told that it wasn't a good idea to do magick when She is red and I don't know why. Does anyone know anything about this and if its okay to do magick?  Huh

I've never heard that.

Me either.

But if you're really worried about it, you could just wait a few hours.  The moon is only red when it's near the horizon.

The moon gets red because of the same reason the sun gets red when it sets. The lightbeams break due to the low position at the horizon and the red ones are the one to get through. If one wants to associate this with something special and do special ritual - that's ok with me. But I never heard not to do magic because the moon seems to be red. I wouldn't bother with it anyway, I do magic/ritual whenever I see the need to.

My advice is simply: do ritual/magic when you feel it's ok. Don't let yourself get distracted by to many Do's and Don'ts - Chances are you'll find for everything a pro and contra if looking hard enough.

And now I'm general speaking (and probably a bit ranting):

I don't get it when pagans/witches get superstious like there was no explanation for those 'scary, strange thing in the sky.' I mean there is no reason to go back to a level where one is scared to death because he can't explain thunder other than thinking the sky lord is mad as hell.

We are children of modern times, we have scientific knowledge, that does not mean one can't see/hear/believe other things - yes ok strange things that might get one locked up someday  Grin

I guess all I want to say is, just because one is doing witchy, pagan, magical stuff, doesn't mean to throw common sense (or the things you know on a mundane and 'normal' level) over board.

BTW, who told you this?

I had/have a teacher/adviser whom was supposed to do a dedication for me and he saw the moon and said that it wasn't a good time to do it. There's a whole long story behind it that would have to be another thread.   Undecided

Well I preformed the ritual anyway. It was my first!  Grin Anyway, it went really well, some minor things like candles blowing out but that was it.

I don't get it when pagans/witches get superstitious like there was no explanation for those 'scary, strange thing in the sky.' I mean there is no reason to go back to a level where one is scared to death because he can't explain thunder other than thinking the sky lord is mad as hell.

I am a superstitious person anyway. Salt, poles, graveyards, most of the common one (except some like the black cat.  Cheesy) but I don't take it very far. Yea I might believe something that can be explained away, but sometimes things can't be explained so easily. /shrug/  Smiley
