The Cauldron is in need of one site assistant to handle the weekly Archeology News category postings.

The job is relatively easy and not particularly time consuming. The news links are sent via a Yahoo Groups mailing list and then relevant, of interest links are selected by the Assistant and pasted into a message for the appropriate thread in the History and Religion board along with the headline from the news source. Preparing the weekly postings takes up about an hour or so on Sunday or Monday. It helps to have some interest in the field.

At the beginning of the month, each category should be started (even if there's no relevant news links for that week) as a separate thread and then the following weeks' postings are placed in a new message in that thread.

The requirements for this assistant position is to first join Explorator mailing list on Yahoo and then commit about an hour a week to post the news headlines/links. A listing of the news categories will be provided.

Take a look at "Month YR Archeology" threads in the History and Religion board for a better idea of what is involved.

If you are interested in the position, please email LyricFox (you can do so from the Profile link).

Also, Ray, who is currently handling the job but has run into RL time constraints said he'll be happy to be a mentor for the first month. I'll also be around if needed, so the new assistant won't be taking this on by his/her lonesome.

And it looks like we've got one volunteer and another that I'm hoping will have some ideas to add to this.

Thanks everyone!

You email it to the member and then the member post it?

You email it to the member and then the member post it?

Actually I believe there is an email list which the member joins and finds articles which will interest TC readers.  I'm not really sure, since I'm not the one doing it.

However, this thread is over a year old and the position has been filled.  If you are looking for ways to get involved, that's wonderful, but please remember to check the dates when you reply to this kind of thread.

Actually, that's exactly how it works Smiley
