Thanks for the thread, I love pictures. It is so fun to see what other folks have done! Hunny Bunny (my husband) loves to take pictures of the altars I set up so we've got several on hand. I put a page on my website with them;

http://www.secondcityarts.com/altars.htm

Now, I have 7 planets in Cancer, love pictures and am one of those awful people who will instantly show strangers pictures of my grandkids. So be forewarned, I have pictures of the main Altar and permanent Elemental Altars, special temporary spell altars, holiday altars........

Your altars were great!  Really pretty.

Wow, you have a statue of Ma'ahes!

Wow, you have a statue of Ma'ahes!

Yep, lions are big around here  Grin

Although I am in not Kemetic, several years ago lions of all sorts just kept showing up all over my paintings, sketchbook, dreams, etc. It was a very transformative time of my life and I knew there had to be a reason I was being badgered by them. I was at a library (this was pre-google!) and opened a book of Gods and Goddesses and the page fell open to Sekhmet. I had never heard of Her. I had that complete AHA! moment and felt I had just hugged my mother. Sekhmet, predominately, followed by Bast and Ma'ahes are very important in my life. Ma'ahes gets center stage on the main altar when I really need to 'cut through the BS' and get something done.

They nor I have never seemed to need to be Kemetic, it was the lion energy that brought me to them more than the Egyptian culture. While this seems weird to me at times, the connection is so strong I don't worry about it much.

I love how you've invited nature in with flowers, herbs, and branches.

Thanks! Smiley Most everything on or around my altar at any given time is going to reflect something from Nature...it's where I live. lol My main altar has a kite over it right now just because it looks like a hawk. I felt it completed my altar and gave it an old friend to watch over everything.

Heheheh!  Someone with as much stuff on their altars as me!

I should take fresh pics of mine, but right now there's a lot of stuff in front of them, waiting for Dustin to be through with boot and have someplace to store all of his stuff.

Yes, I set these up as devotional altars (like the Day of the Dead Altars in Mexico) and love discovering things that belong on them. Clutter-bug is definitely my style. I loved the herbs on yours  Smiley .

My ritual altar is much simpler, enough candles to see by, one statue, the little cauldron in the center and the representations of four elements. It's part of the ritual itself to place the elemental things out, I only set it up eight times a year and for Big Magic workings. I did two spells last year that qualified for the entire rigmarole, I often set up a 'reinforcement' altar to keep feeding the Big Magic energy for a week or so afterwards. I only do these when really necessary, maybe two or three a year.

I'll start with a  a picture of the simple bookcase altar I have to Asherah.

My Asherah altar is constantly evolving.  Though It's meant to be semi-permanent (more of a shrine than an altar, really), it changes as I do.  Here is an updated picture: http://gotpicturesonline.com/pets/chinookmeadows/photogalleries/58758/img21.JPEG

Here is a pic of one of my old altars just before I cleaned up after making a batch of incense.

I don't have any current pictures, but will be sure to share some when I next get the opportunity.

Smiley

I pretty much love yours.

Here is a picture of my hearth altar. I have three other shrines around the house but I don't have pics of them yet.

TomasFlannabhra's altar pix

Here is the explanation of it from my site:

"In the top left you will see a cauldron containing ogham sticks which I draw before and after ritual or prayer. They act as a medium between the Gods and I.

The candle in the middle in the altar candle which when lit represents the presence and spirit of the Gods.

In the center is the sacred well which represents the sacred center of the world. It is filled with water that has been hallowed by the Gods.

The gold plate infront of the sacred well is where dry offerings are made.

The emerald glass bowl is where wet offering/libations are poured. Next to that is a vessel used for pouring holy water and libations.

To the far right is an incense burner. The bottom right corner is a censer for burning resins.

Next to the censer is a brass bell used for signaling the beginning and ending of a rite.

The small round box next to the bell hold resins for burning. "

I changed your HTML to BBCode and it worked. See here for a list of all the standard SMF BBCodes (some of the more annoying ones are turned off on this board, however).

There is another thread in Pagan Religions 101 where people are describing the altars they have at home.  I enjoyed reading these descriptions, but pictures would be even better.  If you have pictures of your altar(s) and would not mind sharing them here, please do.

Here is a link to my album with my altar pictures from two years ago.
