The gunman attacked them because of their "liberal views", namely, they welcomed gays and lesbians into their congregation.  This kind of thing is (unfortunately) why my synagogue has a security camera and buzzes people into the building if someone isn't at the door watching.

This is heartbreaking.  My thoughts are with the congregation.

Depending on were you live I suppose it is a necessary precaution.  But at the same time it speaks very loudy of what our society is becoming, or possibly is.

Who's taking bet's that this won't be classed a terrorist attack? He will be punished only has a murder (which gets him off lighter, relatively) Which is complete and utter B.S.

It probably won't because most people tend to associate terrorist attacks with bombings of some kind.  He did it in name of his ideology, but I'm not sure it would count.

He couldn't find a job, blamed it on liberals, then goes and shoots up a church... Maybe prospective employers had the intelligence to realize he was a raving lunatic.  I wish they could come up with some way of knowing this type of person before they do something like this.  You know maybe some gene, that we could just... quietly do away with?  He deserves whatever he gets, and then some.

And I hope that the old man who died gets pampered in the after life, he deserves it for his bravery and selflessness.  As do those who finally got the guy down.

The following statement happens to be my blonde roots showing:  What in the world is eugenics?

I'm guessing from context that it has something to do with genetic "pruning" or something along those lines.  But having read some recent posts of yours, it could also be something entirely different, but worth the giggles... and possibly the education.

The Wikipedia article isn't too bad. At least the first few paragraphs aren't. I did not read the entire thing.
