Now, now...just because Mel's 8 years younger than you (and 6 years younger than me) doesn't mean we need to go grab our canes and wheelchairs just yet.

Oh wait...I'm still 2 years younger than you, you old geezer Grin

Are you the one making the attempt at improving their witticism??? It is really working.  I choked on my tea, thank you very much.

I'm beginning to wonder if people aren't out to kill me.  Everyone does this to me, family friends, and now Cauldronites.  Meep, time to get protective gear, I'm thinking.

Dammit, mel I just realised that I am old enough to be your mother.  You know,  like decently out of high school a couple years even. Depending on when your birthday is, I would have been old enough to have a drink to celebrate the fact.  I definitely would not have been a teen.

That dearie, is for you to find out when you too are old and grey.

which reminds me, I have to make that hair coloring appointment.

No really, I do.  I have four grey hair makers working overtime right now.  They've been working on me since 1993, and are very effective at their jobs.

Four kid and they are being very effective.  The oldest girl joined the Venture scouts for High adventure stuff.  I'm going to let my baby do all sort os dangerous stuff.

Now the oldest is 15, but he's not taking driver's ed. Probably not until senior year or maybe not even then.  Everyone at the school agrees this is good parenting on our part.  But The girl probably will get to.  And that's even scarier than the high adventure stuff.

Then it must just be some very resilient hair you have.  Good jeans... erm I mean genes.   Tongue

And, four kids, wow.  I have three, and I'm waiting for the grey anyday now.  Lol.  It doesn't help that htey get their high adventure without outside influences.  Heh, hubby's only 34 and he has a few already.  He picks on himself about it.  He's funny that way.  Then again, if you can pick on yourself, then no one else needs to.

Psst... I don't think Mandrina is saying she only has four grey hairs - she is saying she has four grey hair 'makers'.  I.E., her kids.

Huh?

Age references, you young whippersnapper!

Dara Torres is one of the U.S. Olympic team's swimmers who, at the age of 41 (my age...roughly), Saturday missed the gold medal in one of her individual swims by 1/100th of a second. Not only that, but she looks fabulous, is unassuming, comes across as warm and normal, and displayed amazing sportsmanship: When one of her rivals had a torn swimsuit just before Saturday's race began, she made sure they held up the race while the competitor changed. In my book, she's a goddess.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121893878841247233.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

I was doing an arduous 7.5-mile run yesterday and considered sprinting further and faster than I usually do at the end, but was on the verge of giving in to complacency. Then I thought: What would Dara do?

I sprinted that extra bit and then some. Felt great!

I think I remember hearing about her on the news.  Since I don't really pay attention to any sports coverage, I didn't catch her name.
