What is your favorite song from some of your favorite music artists?

Since Fierfly added Youtube links, I figure I may as well, too:

Always With Me, Always With You - Joe Satriani
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfXI6p4l8DQ (Crappy sound quality on this one, but Satch does this song beautifully live)

For Love of God - Steve Vai
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp1fLW-DS8Q

Whispering a Prayer - Steve Vai
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KUSkGeaUPU

Satch Boogie - Joe Satriani
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzQb79IhoRE

Where The Streets Have No Name - U2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDkBzkA9L4s

Those would be my five all-time favorites, ranked in order.

What is your favorite song from some of your favorite music artists?

5.  Seven Mary Three - Cumbersome
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J54D8tQbsjk

4.  Collective Soul - Precious Declaration
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ell4o9HCsgk

3.  Chris Cornell - You Know My Name
This is a tough one.  He's been in Audioslave and Soundgarden and has great songs from both.  My gods can this man sing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJA7GVdwkew

2.  Foo Fighters - Best of You
Another tough one to pick from.  They've been around a long time and have a lot of songs I like.  And they are great performers live.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDsxsCAIkuI

1.  And my all-time favorite song from my favorite band:
Our Lady Peace - Innocent
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ8jCZQUWGw

Yeah, so, I grew up in the 90s.  Does it show?  Cool

What is your favorite song from some of your favorite music artists?

In no particular order:

Boulevard of Broken Dreams -- Green Day (this was my anthem in my senior year of high school)

Forgotten and Numb -- Linkin Park (not quite at the same level as the Green Day song, but these two were favorites of mine in high school.  dammit, my age is showing again, is it?)

Even in Death and My Immortal -- Evanescence  (one that's creepy and one that's sappy -- representations of both sides of this band)

BRAINS! -- Voltaire (this song's just fun Grin)

I Never Told You What I Did For A Living* and Headfirst For Halos -- My Chemical Romance  (these two are rather fun, too).

Figured You Out -- Nickelback

And to round out the top 10:

Building a Mystery -- Sarah McLachlen

*There are two versions of this song, and I like them both.

You beat me to my own post - nice!  I too have multiple favorite songs from my top 3.  But those are my favs of the favorites.

It's difficult for me make a top 5 list, because I can't decide if I should give a little credit to my top 5 band/performers, or simply to go with my top 5 songs, so I'm going to cheat and do both Grin.  Were I limited to only 1 song per performer, my top 5 list would be:

Always With Me, Always With You - Joe Satriani
I absolutely adore this song.  Always have, always will.  Even though I like Steve Vai better in general, this is, without question, my favorite song of all time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfXI6p4l8DQ

For Love of God - Steve Vai
If my avatar didn't give it away, I'm a sucker for guitar Wink.  This song strikes me as equally at home in a holy place or a concert venue.  It bridges the gap between the sacred and profane for me, and for that, I'll always love it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp1fLW-DS8Q

Where The Streets Have No Name - U2
This song would not be on my list if it weren't for The Edge.  He's not the shredding type, but he works his very own brand of sorcery on his guitars.  I like the lyrics, but they can bloody well jog on if they aren't accompanied by The Edge's signature riff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDkBzkA9L4s

Over the Hills and Far Away - Nightwish
I admit it, I was a fan of Evanescence at first.  Then I heard them live Sad.  Nightwish is everything Evanescence could have been...if they had actually been able to do what their produces made it SOUND like they could do.  Besides that, the drums in this tune are awesome Cheesy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGVb7hI9gag

Purple Rain - John Petrucci/Dream Theater
You may not believe me to see my list of songs, but I actually do enjoy more than just ballad-type songs...the ballads simply tend to resonate more with me.  This was actually one of the first Dream Theater songs I ever heard (ironic, considering it wasn't the easiest bootleg in the world to track down when I first heard of them), and I love what they do to make the Prince song their own because, quite honestly, I never cared for Purple Rain until I heard a guitar singing it Grin.

Sometimes I think I must be the only person in the world who likes Evanescence but can't stand Nightwish; I've heard that comparison made many times, it seems like, and I tend to disagree with it.  What I've heard of Nightwish, at least, has not appealed to me at all; the over-the-top operatic vocals tend to grate on me in a manner reminiscent of fingernails on chalkboard.  Having heard both, I do much prefer Evanescence.

I will add, though, that the closest I've ever come to seeing Evanescence live was watching the live DVD they put out a while back, which was so poorly produced that it was difficult to form an opinion of them as live performers from it.  So I've only got the studio recordings to go on here.

What is your favorite song from some of your favorite music artists?

I always have a hard time picking favorites, both because I'm indecisive that way and because my "favorite" tends to change with my mood.  Um...  I guess what I'll do is post a selection of favorite songs from five artists who are coming up in my playlist a lot right now.

Over the Rhine:  "The World Can Wait", "I Will Remember", "Faithfully Dangerous", "Hush Now (Stella's Tarantella)", "Mary's Waltz", "Circle of Quiet", "Who Will Guard the Door"

Evanescence:  "Snow White Queen", "Sweet Sacrifice", "Lithium", "My Last Breath", "Even in Death", "Imaginary" (preferably the version from Origin), "Lies (Remix)", "Anything For You"

Breaking Benjamin:  "Diary of Jane" (electric or acoustic, I'm not picky), "Blow Me Away", "Break My Fall", "Cold"

Dar Williams:  "What Do You Hear in These Sounds", "Whispering Pines", "February", "Mortal City", "Are You Out There"

Utada Hikaru:  "The Workout", "Exodus 04", "Hotel Lobby", "Hikari", "Automatic"

(There's also a bunch of stuff I'm just getting my feet wet with that I think have the potential to become favorites--My Chemical Romance, the White Stripes, Lacuna Coil, and Snake River Conspiracy most notably--but they're not quite there yet.)

See, I actually like the operatic metal sound, but you might want to check out some of the songs on Nightwish's latest album.  Their diva apparently became too much of a diva, so they fired her, and the new singer brings a completely different vocal style to the mix.

Heh.  Thanks for the tip--I'll have to check out the newer stuff and see if it works any better for me.

I had never heard of them before.  I'll have to listen to a few more of their songs.

I am generally annoyed by the White Stripes.  I find the same drum beat and guitar chords played over and over again to be quickly tiring.  I feel like there is one or two songs I can agree with, but can't think of which one.

I was in high school, I think.  Green Day is creeping into my playlist now too--while I'm fond of "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", I think "Holiday" just edges past it for me.

I liked the first few Linkin Park songs I heard, but after a while I felt like they kind of started to all sound the same.   Undecided

What is your favorite song from some of your favorite music artists?

There's been a few musicians that I've been obsessively listening to lately, though usually it's just Bob Dylan. Hehe.

Bob Dylan: "Mr. Tambourine Man" , "Subterranean Homesick Blues" , "Tangled Up In Blue",  "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands", "Thunder On The Mountain"

U2: "Stay (Faraway, So Close)", "If God Will Send His Angels", "Numb" , "Stuck In A Moment"

Hole: "Malibu" , "Violet" , "Awful"

Janis Joplin: "Cry Baby" , "Me and Bobby McGhee",  "Down On Me"
