what happens when spirits are banished?

i moved into my house just over five years ago and was quickly dealing with a resident nasty spirit, he was passed on and not long after i started to notice another spirit presence, as it turned out it was a little girl who had been there all the time but was hidding from the first (Don't blame her i wish i could have done the same)

she told her story over the next couple of years of how she had died in the house in a fire due to bombing during the war and could not escape, i learnt alot from her about the history of my house and she is still with my family to this day (scarily i do hear my daughter of six talking to her some times and playing) but overall she didn't replace the first mentioned spirit and i have had none try its just her.

to your second point they may want nothing from you except to be able to stay there where they feel secure but if you are hearing them regularly maybe a meditation to help you focus on what they are saying, or a simple polite request for them to speak more clearly or give signs of what they wish you to know.

Generally, how it is done and what the intent is effects the results of a banishing. In most cases, all that s desired it a "clean area" to work magic or perform ritual. Such banishing just clear the area for the duration of the ritual. Generally that is all any normal banishing can do. If you want to keep spirits out you have to banish them from the area and ward it so they cannot return.

Often you can assert some control of the voices by telling them to go away.  It should work on the voices whether they are friendly and mean.  I gave that advice to someone before, and when he tried it, he reported that it worked well.  I would advise trying that.  If you continue to have problems, it may be worth seeing someone who works in mental health just so that you can rule out all of the other options.

what do you mean by "take over"? Are you concerned that some other, less fun spirits might show up and kick out the fun ones? I agree with what others have suggested, but would also suggest learning more about how to talk to them, and try to understand how to control what kind of entities you let into your space, whether they are in a body or not. If you had some fun, bouncy friends over, would you be fine with it if some mean, destructive people showed up at your house, and tried to get them to leave? You get to have quite a lot of control over who/what you want in your life.

 In what way are these spirits fun? Please indulge me as I do not have any experience with spirits, what do they do

I've always found this works just fine. I see them as people with no bodies, who happen to stay with me. So boundries need to be set. Be clear with them about what you want and don't want and they will usually work with you.

I was wondering the same thing. While I have encountered friendly and not-friendly spirits, I haven't really encountered fun ones.

I have. Visiting baby spirits are fun. Some of my dead relatives are fun. I guess it depends on your definition of fun.

Probably. It dawned on me after I posted that that maybe what I was classifying as friendly others would consider fun. I have a pretty broad definition of friendly when it comes to spirits.
I have the spirit of one of my relatives living with me who is kind of fun. I think she's trying to be anyway. She keeps turning on the TV and the lights. It's kind of annoying at times though!

yeah, I consider that kind of stuff fun, when it's not annoying. But as long as I get the sense that they are having fun being with me, it's still ok
