BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads.

I really don't like this at all which is not a rational response I know as it looks like a useful breakthrough.

Not sure why  it gives me the creeps though. Perhaps as a mockery of life?

While I see a lot of progress in the video, the noise BigDog produces it way too much for me.

No it's just friggin creepy, but still cool. As for the noise, well that's a  problem that will have to be worked out later, servo technology is only so far advanced.

the noise BigDog produces it way too much for me.

I suspect they probably used a chainsaw engine to run the hydraulics which, with something that size, would give a significant savings of weight and expense over batteries
