Folks,

Our Dragonsoup, who has been handling the weekly archeology postings for us for the last several months, is having to take an indefinite break from the board. Because of that, TC finds itself in need again of someone to handle the weekly archeology postings.

The job is actually quite simple and not particularly time consuming once you get the hang of it. The first two or three weeks can take up time, but once you've got the routine down, it's maybe an hour a week...generally on Sunday or Monday. You will need to join a Yahoo mailing list group (Explorator), that publishes a list of links to articles once a week (usually Sunday morning unless David runs into a problem). Essentially, you go through the links and save the ones that might be of interest to the membership and post them. At the first of each month, you'll set up the categories to post in so they'll be ready when the emails from David come in.

You can see examples of the finished product over in the History and Religion folder.

Dragonsoup has kindly offered to keep up the posting until I get another volunteer, but I would like to get someone as soon as possible so she can begin her break. If you're interested, please email me through my profile and we can talk that way. Smiley

We have a new volunteer. Smiley Woot!

Melamphoros has agreed to take on the archeology posting for us, and he should be able to start on Monday so there shouldn't be any interruption in the posting schedule.

Thank you Mel for volunteering to take this on. And thank you Dragonsoup for doing the job for the last several months!

What can I say?  I wanted something to do and since I'm not quite as good with the threadstarting as I'd like, I think this makes up for it. Grin

All I can say is  we really, really appreciate it! I started this idea several years ago and I think it goes well with the tone of the forum, but time has a way of eating into things, and it was something I just couldn't continue to do. Having someone (first Dragonsoup and now you) take it over ensures it will continue.

Are you trying to start a war over volunteers here? Cheesy

I won't throw you out of the club, as long as you show up occasionally and throw an idea or a helpful suggestion into the mix.

I know, and I do occasionally start new threads that I think will be interesting.  I just haven't thought of any recently.  And since I now will be starting seven new threads a month now, to me it counts Cheesy

And nothing will stop me from posting like I have been.  Except, of course, for a horrible accident that lands me in the ICU for a while and/or the morgue.

ETA: or if I snap and finally kill someone Cheesy
