Ooo, thank you for that.  I haven't been on Pedigree Query for a week or so; I'm sure the discussion is several pages long by now.

But I'm so glad someone took the first step.  There is no "correct" answer to the problem.  One of the issues is humane transportation.  The people who ship horses to slaughter might be very nice people, but economically they are bottom-feeders so shipping them as cheaply as possible means deplorable conditions.
