I know this thread doesn't normally start up until October, but since the website rebooted for the new writing season early, I figured it was fair game.

So who's participating?

I go by J.B._Drake there.

I just added you as a buddy, why the change in account?

Also, what was you're old username so I can delete it.  I think it may have been coldrevolution, but I'm not sure.

Yup, it was coldrevolution. I've been wanting a change of names for a few years, and then my old account kept locking me out, so I got a new one.

I'm in.  I'm actually halfway prepared this year.  I'm still starcr, though more or less my entire profile appears to be out of date.

Just thought I'd poke the thread, since we're only a few days away from NaNo starting up.  Anyone else joining in?  Are you all ready?

Officially you need 1667 words/day to hit 50K by the end of the month, but there are four days when I know I'm not very likely to get any writing done and a couple more where I find it possible-but-doubtful, so I'm figuring I should aim for about 2100/day.  (Well, 2083, but you know.)  Which a little bit intimidates me, but on the other hand I have a complete outline!  This is the first time in my life I've ever even managed to plan out a story longer than a few pages, so even if I don't "win", even if I don't finish the novel by the end of November, I already feel like I've really accomplished something.

I think I'm going to try to do a "test run" today or tomorrow to see how long it actually takes me to write 2100 words of story (though not the one I'm going to be working on for NaNo).  That will give me a better feel for how nervous I need to be about the amount of time I've got set aside each day.  LOL

For me, I mean.  I know this is, like, nothing for some people.  I'm not one of them.  Wink

In a word, no. No. No. No.  Tongue

I may be in serious danger of not winning, just due to time, tiredness and general writing malaise.

I will do my damndest though.  Wink

Time's my worry.  I'd hoped for ~1 hour/day, but my test run today indicates that I'll probably need more like an hour and a half to hit my daily wordcount goal...  And then there are things that could interrupt that time.  (Because no matter how firmly I say I won't allow interruptions, something will happen.  Even if it's just me being lazy or falling asleep in front of the computer.)

I'll do my damndest too, though!  Cheesy

I know for a fact that I won't get any work done on that first weekend unless my parents have something that can open a .doc document on their new computer.  And I probably won't get much done on Thanksgiving weekend either.  (I know I can write it down in a notebook, but it would take time transferring it to the computer that I could use for writing).

Not to mention that on Mondays and Wednesdays I'm usually tired from school to concentrate on writing and I do homework on Tuesdays.

And that I have to fit in some time for job hunting.

My goal is 25K as it was last year Tongue

I could have sworn I already posted to this thread with my new screenname on Wrimo. Apparently I didn't. =/

I'm participating, as MaitresseKatje, but I'm rebelling by finishing my novel Bellica.

No, I'm not ready. Arg. =| I've got six courses and papers due. I must be crazy.
