Researchers explore scrapping Internet

NEW YORK - Although it has already taken nearly four decades to get this far in building the Internet, some university researchers with the federal government's blessing want to scrap all that and start over.

There are problems wityh the Net, but we need to make sure that any rep[lacement kees some of the things that make the Net safer for free speech -- as in hard to block stuff a government or corporation does not want and allows nearly anonymous speech.  These are two things that any revised Internet sponsored by governments and business will probably try hard to prevent.

Cynic that I am about such things, I pretty much figured that was a significant factor in why these folks had your federal government's blessing.
