Basically what I failed to express (my brain's on low battery after a long day) is that teens have issues with parents and teachers who may not be understanding or accepting of their religious studies or beliefs. In fact, they can be totally opposed to it in the extreme. Generally that's not a big concern in a college setting.
True, I do get what you are saying.
The college I attend does have a strong Christian influence, it's not a Christian-based college though. So being Pagan or whatever one calls themselves outside of Christian does face some opposition. Even the Catholic community here on campus does...
But then again, I see what you're saying... Here I go running in circles...
