What does it necessarily mean to have "fire in the head"?

What are some experiences you have had with this and how has it affected you?

When does the "fire in the head" normally occur? How long does it last?

Dalaigh,

This isn't a warning, but this is the sixth thread you've started in roughly a day and a half.  Your enthusiasm and willingness to discuss things are commendable, but before you start a new thread, please think about nurturing the discussion along in an existing thread.  This is not to discourage you from ever starting new threads again, but you've started an awful lot in a very short span of time, and not one of those topics is anywhere near exhausted.  I know you're excited, and that's fine, but you need to slow down.

I'm sorry... I didn't know that was a bad thing.

I know that you don't want thread drift so I thought that it would be best if I started a new thread to carry on a separate topic... Again, I apologize and will carry on in existing threads.  Embarrassed

Starting new threads is NOT a bad thing. we want people to start new threads. However, starting a bunch at once wears people out, especially if they are on related subjects as the same people will want to be involved in them.  If you have 10 questions, it's better for everyone if you start one or two a day. Maybe even with a break or a day or two if some are going strong. You are much more likely to get more response and discussion this way.

I understand. Didn't really think of it that way... but I do now. Smiley

Fire in the head to me means "crazy frenzied inspiration that comes so fast that my fingers can't keep up".  I imagine my head tingling sometimes, lol.  It's not something you can plan or something that you work for, it just happens.  In my experience, it feels like my head is swirling and my thoughts come so fast that it's difficult to keep up with the flow.  It doesn't usually last a long time, just ya know a big "whoosh!!!" and it's over.

Not unlike an orgasm :p

Its inspiration that makes my hands twitch and it propels me to do tasks without stopping for breaks, food, sleep, etc. When it strikes I feel like I have a fever and I can't stop. It feels similar to runner's high.
I've experienced it while writing poetry, designing and running experiments, doing research-examples Mortal Kombat games, biochemistry research, language learning, painting, etc. I find it occurs after I've done some prep work such as researching something and not getting anywhere or I've been thinking about an idea all the time.
It usually lasts until I've finished what I had to do. During a project while at uni it seemed to have lasted 24hrs.

I was VERY ill afterwards but I got a high 2.1 for that project and found something that none of my lecturers had thought of, its a shame I couldn't continue working on it.
