1.  Try out 2 new exercise videos for 15 sessions each.--At 6 on Pilates and 4 on the other one.  This is going slowly because I've been less motivated than I ought to be lately.  I really got lazy last week.  And the week before...

2.  Re-reduce weight to 180 and keep it there throughout the season.--...But not that lazy, ye gods!  The scale says 186 this morning. The last time I weighed myself was Thursday morning, when I was at 181.  Five pounds in four days?  I don't think so--I know I've been bad, but that's 4,375 extra calories per day, which is flat-out impossible.  I must be retaining water again, even though I'm not at a point in my cycle where it makes any sense for me to be doing so.  Sigh.  Headdesk.  I would guess I might be up a pound or something, though, because that's more water weight than I usually put on.

3.  Finish my novel!  (Well, I mean, the first draft.)--I got a little bit done this week.  At least I've figured out where this situation that sort of sprung itself on me out of nowhere is going.  I don't know why things are going so slowly now.  Sigh and headdesk again.

The problem with weighing yourself and going by two or three pounds isn't necessarily a good thing. While you can be retaining water, chances are you're gaining muscle if you at least regularily doing exercises, especially if you weren't before. And muscle does weight more than fat. So I'd chalk it up to you gaining muscle pounds rather than fat pounds. And its also the pit falls of many dieting and work out regimens when people don't know and think they're gaining weight and their programs arn't doing diddly squat, when it really is working and they are gaining muscle!

So I hope you keep with it! Smiley

So I'd chalk it up to you gaining muscle pounds rather than fat pounds.

Well...  Yes, but I was basing my guess on what I've eaten this past week.  I have a fairly good handle on how many calories are in what even when I'm not tracking my intake closely, and I have gone a bit overboard this week.  That's why I say maybe a pound might be fat, because I think 3500 extra calories (the amount necessary to generate one pound of added fat) is within the realm of possibility for the time period we're talking about.

For the rest of it, I'm 90% certain it really is water weight.  It's a weird time in my cycle, but I've been exercising relatively steadily for a couple of months now and only really do about 10 minutes of strength training (with 5-lb. weights, max) and 10 minutes of cardio a day.  (Some days I do a little extra, but not all the time.  Maybe once a week.)  I'd be awfully surprised if I had suddenly packed on a pound of muscle per day for the last four days under those circumstances.  That's really a pretty light exercise routine.

I'll keep with it.  I got a little lazy for a few days, but I'll get back on track this week.  I know what this is, I know probably if I weigh myself again in a few days I'll have shed most or all of what I've "gained" back.  This happens periodically right now--my body chemistry has just never been the same since I gave birth to my daughter (insert rant here) and I've gotten used to having to adjust for water retention about once a month.  It's at a little bit different time this time than it has been in the past, but then when I say "never been the same", I also mean it's been difficult to stabalize my cycle even with the Pill to help (see previous re: rant), so I'm not that surprised to see something change again.  It was just a nasty shock to see such a large gain first thing this morning when I was already not feeling on top of my game because I hadn't slept well.  But I'm back to just being exasperated with the whole business now rather than feeling remotely upset about it.  Wink

Career! Which is not to say money, because I am an artist.

1. Finish and publish Bellica by February.
Work on getting accepted as model at a certain company. -Removing goal, because I'll be working on it next season, during the summer. Too much going on in my life right now.
2. After Finishing Bellica start writing more on The Man of Bronze. -Changing this goal because finishing Bellica takes priority over MoB.
3. Don't mess up with stage-managing Vagina Monologues (ie, get a good recommendation and have something worth putting on my resume). -Suddenly I have to work on publicity too! OMG.

School
1. A straight-A semester. -So far, yes.
2. Get my books before classes start.

Body/Mind/Spirit/Wallet
1. Work on getting rid of the Buddha Belly. -Doing ok with this so far. I need to start doing my crunches again.
2. Get my next two tattoos in January.
3. Go to the school gym regularly. -Would be helpful if my gym partners didn't flake out on me quite so much. Unfortunately I'm nervous about going by myself; luckily a friend has agreed to go with me if we plan it out in advance.
4. Get rid of stuff/stop being such a packrat. (Following that, become more tidy. Hard to do with this much stuff.) -Room is cleaner; packing up boxes of things to send back to Powell River and working on moving back there for the summer, following which I will live out of one suitcase when I come back here.
5. Get a job. Make money.
6. See a psychologist. -Going to the counselors next week.
7. Go to the dental clinic. -Next week. Really.
8. Get car fixed and re-insured. -I need to win the lottery. Well, I won a bursary, but that needs to be put towards food and such. However, I think I may be able to fix my car myself, if I can get a couple of jacks, a rolling board to go underneath, and a new oil pan.
9. Read more books; donate ones I don't wish to keep to Peace Poem Walkers.
10. Get snow clothing.

Staving off Depression (fun stuff!)
1. Spend more time with friends (so long as homework/etc is done).
2. Watch season two of Battlestar Galactica.

3. Watch through every movie I haven't seen in my DVD library. -That's a lot of movies, so I'm just going to list this as done, because I have watched many films I haven't seen before in the past while. Not all of them good.
4. Make friends watch every movie they haven't seen. -Considering this done; Annie and I watched quite a few movies we hadn't seen this past weekend.
5. Go to Stephie's birthday party.
6. Complete Final Fantasy VII. -Still grinding levels out at the Gelnika.
7. Finish FFX (again) and then FFX-2.

9.5 successes total, 2.5 fails / 22 goals (four removed).

Update:

Academic Goals

1. Do well for the first half of the semester. -- Next week is the last before spring break and I think I'm doing okay so far.
2. Try not to let my teachers get to me as much. -- In a little over two weeks, I'll be in that harpy's class again.  I'm trying to brace myself.

Creative Goals
1. Work on first ms once a week. -- I just realized that the point of this goal was to finish the current draft.  Since I did, there's no point in leaving this up here. Smiley
2. Get started on two of my other projects -- Done.
3. Work on low-priority ms's a little bit every once in a while. -- None this week.

Health Goals
1. Try to cut back on the soda -- I'm beginning to phase it out by drinking more water.  I'm also looking into finding something sweet that could be a healthier alternative.
2. Get back to walking/biking -- I have made it a habit to walk to and from school on Mondays and sometimes Wednesdays.  Sometimes, I take a detour and walk through a historic neighborhood.  I already know that this is a goal that would carry over to spring for maintenance, but since I'm in the habit of doing this, I think I can safely cross this one out. Smiley

Other Goals
1. Try to find a job-- I have an idea on where I can work over the summer and have a way in, I just need to make an appointment.
2. Read and finish a book not related to my classes --Done
3. Try not to murder anyone (again, manslaughters don't count) -- None so far Smiley

Total Goals: 10
Accomplished Goals: 4

OK, I'm breaking out the exercise-video goal into an individual goal for each video, to make tracking easier.

1a.  Try out 1- Minute Workouts video (original flavor) for 30 sessions--Done.
1b.  Try out 10-Minute Dance Off Fat Fast video for 15 sessions--Done.
1c.  Try out 10-Minute Solution video (original flavor) for 15 sessions--Currently at 7.
1d.  Try out 10-Minute Pilates video (with resistance band) for 15 sessions--Currently at 9.
1e.  Try out 10-Minute Latin Dance Mix exercise video for 15 sessions--Currently at 4.  (New goal this week.)

2.  Re-reduce weight to 180 and keep it there throughout the season.--Well, I'm glad I got the urge to weigh myself mid-week.  Because otherwise I would think I was holding steady at 185 and be beginning to worry about whether I really had somehow managed to gain five pounds in four days for real.  As it is, I weighed in on Thursday as well, and I was back down at 180 then.  So I am left with the relatively small consolation that my body's probably just pulling stupid shit on me for an exceptionally extended time this month.  If this keeps up, weighing myself will be futile, because I'll never know what I actually weigh.

3.  Finish my novel!  (Well, I mean, the first draft.)--Le sigh.

Gads, another week gone by?  Shocked

1. Lose 1-2 pounds a week-reach first goal mid Jan.-- Lost 2.2 pounds this past week.

2. Exercise 6 out of 7 days--  Made the 6 days.

3. DO more with my spirituality.-- Meditating at least once a week.

4. Relax and take time for myself.-- Watched most of the race Sunday, but spent most of it with my youngest daughter who was up from school, and playing with my nephew!

5. Quit smoking by the end of January.

Studies

1. Second Methodology Lesson

Does it count as fail if I withdraw the following two points?
It is not possible to manage it in the time remaining, especially since things at work are getting rougher again.

2. First Case Lesson
3. Second Case Lesson

Spirituality

Make a living, daily practice out of my believes.
(Permanent goal)

Works quite well.
Done a lot of readings for people, found out new stuff - have to write a bit more tho'

- write in my new German blog about my path

Started this. Like mentioned above, have to write more.

Attitude/Behaviour/Personality

1. Don't be so grumpy about the things I can't change at the moment and thus messing up my day.
If I make it through the next week, keeping feeling so much better about work and stuff and don't falling back in old patterns, I'll see this one as accomplished.

Yessss, something really changed within me - I consider this done!  Grin

Progress Report:  Still packing in between the working since everytime I think I'm going to have a couple days, I don't because everyone is getting the plague at work.

But I'm going to have the place ready to go come heck or high water no later than the 21 of March so I don't have to do anything but be lazy on Sunday. Cheesy

I'm marking this one complete, as I feel like I've got enough of a grip on it that I'm not going to slip between now and the Equinox, and I think it might be better for me to not be weighing myself every week.  Short version:  Doing so is only reminding me of things that seriously bug the crap out of me involving my cycle and the aforementioned issues with it, and if I didn't keep reminding myself like this I suspect I would be a much less-bugged and much happier person.  So I'm not going to remind myself anymore.  Long version:  Click here if you're interested in the long, drawn-out self-deconstruction that went into this.

Must remember to update this thing weekly!

Financial/Work/Icky Grown-up Stuff:
1. Reduce personal debt by 10%. - Done.
2. Set aside money from every paycheck for spring trip. - Done! My tax refund is now securely in my bank, which means I don't have to eek this out of my weekly budget anymore.
3. Find a new place to live. - Goal removed.

Creativity Abounds:
1. Write, write, and write some more. - Done.
2. Let my friend read my 2008 NaNo.- Done.
3. Find at least one creative person IRL to blog about. - Done.

Spiritual Stuff:
1. Update the altar for the season. - Done!
2. Work on digital version of herbal. - WIP.
3. Post more Path-Forging entries on spirituality blog. - Done.

Health-Related:
1. Lose one pound per week and keep it off. - A bit behind on this one, but I've still dropped 9.5 pounds already this season and have moved down to a smaller jean size, a size I haven't been able to wear in this decade.  I'm good with that.
2. Go to the gym at least once a week. -3/6 on this one.  I really need to get back on track.
3. Participate in team weight loss program at work. - Going well.  My team is the only still on track and losing weight. We've lost a collective total of 24 pounds in two months.  Not bad.
4. Get new glasses and contacts. - I really need to do this soon.

By my count, that's 14 goals with 7 completed, 1 removed, and 0 failed.

Not so good, but hopefully things'll pick up once I'm settled back into routine here.

I haven't been updating because I had nothing to update. This hasn't been a terribly productive season... But this week I actually got stuff (other than coursework...) done! Cheesy

1)   Figure out my future. Currently putting applications in envelopes. After that all I can do is wait... Gods I hate waiting!
2)   Exercise! It's warm enough to run! It's warm enough to run! *does a happy dance* If it keeps a nice temperature and I get to keep running I'll cross this off by the end of the season. I don't have long...
3)   Sort out my finances... Well, they're sorted. I've made projections for my earnings and expenditures over the next few years and lets just say that there is a lot of red *groans*. Oh well, at least I know where I stand.
4)   Read a non-class-related book. Got a couple done. One real book, one audio book, and one web book. Yay me!
5)   Keep up with my friends. Things are tense around here as we are all in snappy moods due to hormones/too much work/too many applications. Still, no one has killed anyone yet. I consider this a success.
6)   Celebrate the seasons and do at least one tarot reading per week. Ahhh. I forgot the tarot goal. Must read cards...
7)   Sleep! I'm in an east facing room again now which doesn't have a damned street light outside the window so my body clock is happy!
Cool   Get to 18,000 words on my story. I highly suspect this one is dead as I just don't have the time to complete it. We'll see.
9)   Do at least one big crafting project for myself. I really need to finish those pants. Maybe that'll be next weekend.
10) Go to temple at least every second week. Done! I've been going about 2 out every 3 weeks. I'm considering taking refuge (kinda like converting 'cept you can't "convert" to Buddhism). I'm rather excited.
