In what relationship do you see yourself to your deity/ies?

- Do you see any hierarchy between you and your deity/ies?
- Is he/she or are they like a parent/parents? (In what way?)
- Or more like a friend/friends? (How so?)
- Or is he/she/are they like a business partner/business partners? (In what regard?)

How does that influence your worship?

What do you give to your deity/ies or do for him/her/them and what do you recive from her/him/them?

It depends on the deity, really.  I will start by saying that I do give all of the gods of my pantheon the same amount of respect.  At the moment the two that I feel closest to are Hermes and Hekate.  With the latter, it seems more of a mentor and student relationship.  With Hermes, sometimes it seems more like an older brother-type role (he's protective of me we joke around a lot and on occasion he pulls very cruel pranks on me but we both laugh about it eventually) one minute and the next we're bickering like an old married couple.  There are some that pop in and out of my life (Athena, Apollo, Dionysus, Hera) where the relationship is a cross between mentor and business.  There are also dieties that scare the crap out of me helf the time but I try to remain calm whenever they drop by (Ares, Artemis, Aphrodite).

I'm just starting to think about this myself as I haven't had much of a relationship with any deity yet (other than the Christian God in my childhood), but I've recently seen Artemis in a meditation (or was it Diana?). She kind of showed me how to solve a problem (it was hard to understand what she meant though and I'm not sure I really did). I wonder if this could be the beginning of a relationship. She didn't tell me why she tried to help me or if she expected anything back from me, so I'm just wondering how people see their relationship to their deities. I also want to take it slow because she scares me somewhat. I suspect she might be popular with newbie pagans and so she doesn't seem to scare people in general, but I feel that she's a bit of a strong (and wild?) personality. I don't want to have that arrow pointed at me if you can understand what I mean.

I don't know much about Diana, but Artemis can be down-right scary at times.  The part you mentioned about the personality does sound like Artemis, but then again, I have little info on Diana so...*shrugs*

I'm also gonna go with the "I am His" type answer.  (gee, thanks, Vieve!  yeah, I know).

I can remember no time when He was not there.  He was friend, adviser, and swift kick in the ass.  He is less *there* now than he was - I've been told this is because I need Him less.  I've got things more under control and I'm doing what needs doing, and that's what's desired.

That said, I can of course walk away if I wanted to - but I've never been asked to do something I disagree with, and I see the value in what I'm doing.  The theory says I could walk away - the practice says that I could not be myself and do so.  I would be someone else.

I guess I have different relationships with different ones.  I wouldn't say I am "friends" with any of them. Most demand respect, some more than others. I totally agree that some are down-right scary.  My spirit guide is more like a parent to me than the deities are.

My relationship with Rhiannon and Cernunnos is more like a parent/child relationship than anything else. Sometimes it's very nurturing and close and other times it can be a more strict relationship, like when I need a quick swift kick in the pants for not listening or following directions.

With Brighid it's more of a teacher/mentor and student relationship, because She has been there for me for my creative needs. Other deities whom I honor during certain rituals or special occasions, such as Lugh, have a more formal relationship with me. I think that the relationship with each deity is different, depending on the deity Him/Herself and the occasion on which I call upon Them or They call upon me, as the case may be.
