I only wish they had better hairstyle choices because the only thing I don't like about mine is the somewhat-Blagojevich-esque hair.  But it was the closest thing I could find to my actual hair so... Undecided
That's Lego hair for ya - tends to look like a bad toupee.  (Maybe Blago orders his toupees from Lego Cheesy?)

You might want to make a note of that in your sig or something, like "previously known as X" or something.  Otherwise things can get really confusing really fast for those of us who only know you by your old display name.  Wink

Oops I didn't think about that. Sorry didn't mean to cause confusion.

Whee--I've always liked it when this topic comes up.

What, are you implying my topic's not unique and original?  Cheesy

Wow, I'm only half-way through this thread and there's so many good stories.  Talk about the toughest 3 questions you can get asked, and you're only allowed one each to define you to the rest of the world:  your chosen name, an image, and a few words.

That makes for some soul-searching and attic-cleaning...

I repeatedly came across the concept and the practice of sacrifice and it captured my imagination. Antecedents probably include the role of sacrifice in Christianity (mum is an evangelical athiest, but the lady next door took me to a C of E church each week until I was 7 or 8 ), the loss of my younger brother when I was seven and my sexual orientation. When I came across the concept of archteypes and read some of Jung's and Campbell's works the concept of the sacrificed god really worked its way into my psyche and the images played merry hell with my 'libido' (I was around 12 or 13).

Over the last 10 or so years I have more and more strongly identifed as a Stoic and Stoicism stresses the inherrant hapiness that arises from being virtuous. Many of the virtues are tangled up with aspects of sacrifice and so the old passion continues.

You've brought up some interesting things I need to think about.  Virtue and sacrifice....  not so sure I agree with the correlation.  Not so sure I agree with being virtuous or being sacrificial...

Not so sure that's why we're here... (I'll get back to you on this, probably in another thread)

My avatar is something I built on a dollz site a while ago - Star helped me by adding the baby when I had my son.  I've kept that avatar because she looks amused and faintly cynical, and that amuses the heck out of me.  I am faintly cynical. Smiley  And I love the little baby there, even if he's long past the crawling stage.

I'm pretty boring. Smiley

I've kept coming back to this site under different names as my self-identity has changed.  I remember when you added the baby to your avatar!  My avatar, back in the day, was a pregnant Hawaiian woman... I was completely involved in the mother aspect of God (for me, Pele).

It's funny--sometimes I feel like the prodigal son as far as this site goes--I'll disappear for years but I keep finding my way back!

I see so many interesting names, avatars, and sigs.

My name describes my path... I am a Folk Witch. I do not have an avatar, yet. My signature contains favorite quotations known in Traditional Craft lore and my most favorite quote regarding Witchcraft from Practical Magic. Smiley That's about it for me. Wink

I always remember that's your real name, because the first time you had occasion to mention it, I asked you about the song.

Yep you did  Wink

Sperran is the name of a D&D character I played.  She was a ranger, and follower of Mielikki (sp?) so I thought her name would be appropriate for a Pagan forum.  My current avatar emphasizes my support for free expression of many religions.

I would just like to know why you chose what you did to help define you.
Name - from a romance novel I was reading at the time - spur of the moment couldn't think of anything else.
Avatar - It was sitting in my picture folder, and I thought why not?
No sig.

Basically pointless.

O.o. Is it sad that my Lego-me's hair looks better than real-me's hair?

I'm happy it did - I like both your and Morag's new avatars (and both of you are people who run into the same body-type problem I do with most avatar-makers).

Thanks! It's a lot of fun making them, so I'm grateful you passed on the info about the site. Smiley

My name.
It started as a screen name 9 years ago.
In the years passing it became my 'other' name, my witchy name.
(Which was made clear to me by my lady in a time when I changed to another nick.)

I pulled it back from the internet because of that, only here I'm still using it.
Just the other week I found out, that my name choice might not have been that randon as I thought at first.

My avatar.
You might guess it, it is indeed Mystique from the X-Men movies.
I love the deep indigo color and the animallike eye. It both has meaning to me.

My sig.
Currently I'm just displaying my dragons there.

My avatar was taken from a site that displayed free avatars.  The file name is actually Azrael which is the name of the Islamic angel of death.  Although to me, it looks more like the modern, Western Grim Reaper (if he was naked, that is).  I picked it because it's dark and spooky, like me Grin

but now you're a lego boy!
