AP INVESTIGATION: Army charity hoards millions

By JEFF DONN

FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) - As soldiers stream home from Iraq and Afghanistan, the biggest charity inside the U.S. military has been stockpiling tens of millions of dollars meant to help put returning fighters back on their feet, an Associated Press investigation shows.

Maybe they should run the bail out and the stimulus package.

I really think they need a little separation from the Army. That would probably solve a lot of these problems.

Not surprisingly, but this wasn't greeted with cheers.

Vets riled up over report on stingy Army charity
Money reportedly put into reserves rather than on aid to U.S. soldiers

Veterans advocates are venting anger and frustration toward the biggest charity within the U.S. military after revelations that it has been packing more money into reserves than it has spent on aid during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

One of the lists I'm on has lots of military, both current and ex.  They are not happy, and haven't been happy with that charity. Only thing that's worse is the Combined Federal Campaign.

I'm pretty sure I'll be hearing about this from my representative, Chet Edwards. He's got a lot on the ball with the veterans, and I suspect some pretty strong comments will be coming from him in his next email.
