This is probably a really stupid computer question...but I think we've established that I'm not the most computer literate person here.   Wink

Does the forum have some way of recognizing my computer?  The reason I'm asking is that other members of my family are interested in joining TC, but they would -- at least some of the time -- be using my computer.  Would the software recognize them as me and not allow them to set up accounts because I already have one?  Or would it accept other accounts set up using the same computer?

Did that question make any sense?

Your account isn't tied to your computer, if that's what you're asking.  Each of you will probably have to remember to log in when you're ready to use the forum, and log out when you're done, but there shouldn't be any problem with multiple forum users on one computer.  As far as I know, anyway.

Everyone will need to log in and log out (and be sure they are logged in as themselves and not the last person to visit the forum!) for this to work. As for the forum software, so long as each person has there own email address, there is not problem. Only one account is allowed per email address (software limit).

We're used to logging in and out, since we all have different gmail accounts.  So, it sounds like it will be fine.

Thanks!

Randall, what about different user accounts on the computer?  I have been doing that for a long time, but not sure I can describe the process to a non-techie.

Different user accounts would give everyone their own cookies, etc. so logging in to the board and out from the board every time would probably not be needed (that is, each accounts TC account could probably select the login forever option on the board). Each account on the board would still need its own email address, however, as the board software enforces this restriction.

Different user accounts are where we each have our own little icons we click on that take us to our own desktops, right?  Yes, we have those set up.  And we all have our own email accounts (all on gmail).

So, it sounds like we're all good, even if we do use the same computer.  Which we don't have to do all the time, anyway.  We have more than one.  It's just that everyone likes mine best cuz it's the newest.   Wink
