Most of the group-work experiences I've had so far were online.
But even then, you open up to the others, you work on personal stuff and so I think a really distant professional setting is not possible.
Not if you meet with the same people over and over again.

You can keep a distance towards a 'customer', but within a group you'll automatically get closer to the others.

But there are people here that have far more experience and can give way better answers, I'm sure.
