Inspired by LyricFox's Ultimate PMS Cake I was reminded of this receipe I received from a friend.  I haven't had a chance to try it out yet (I'm suffering a significant cocoa shortage) but it's on my list of Things I Definitely Need to Try.  A couple of ideas I've had to modify this recipe a little have been mint-chocolate chips, fresh rasberries (or any berry really) or possibly a tablespoon of your favorite preserves placed in the center...

With a little planning you could even make this in the microwave at work...  Grin

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
  • A small splash of vanilla extract
  • 1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ?

Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

OK, I am totally doing this tonight.  (Assuming I don't space it and forget, of course!)  I'll try to remember to post in and share how it was.  *wanders off pondering possibilities*

Oh my.  I'm sad I'm out of eggs.

But there is a recipe that is worse...same idea, only no egg, milk, or oil required.  It's a dry mix that only requires water.  You just put the dry mix in a plastic bag and then you can make cake anywhere that has a microwave!  But I don't know the recipe.   Cry

You could replace the egg with egg replacer powder, use dry milk (or dry soymilk etc) and probably skip the oil completely, add 6 or a little more Tablespoons of water, and go from there.

I remember someone giving us this recipe during the Up All Night Techo-Pagan Winter Solstice. I went and tried it immediately and it's YUMMY  Smiley

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

This was mentioned a while back on TC and inspired me (as a result of my most wondrous chocolate allergy *groan*) to try a bit of a variation. I was pretty surprised and happy with the results. I doubt anyone else will want it, most people without my constraints would rather just stick with chocolate, but if you're in the mood for a quick sugary, fruity, starchy fix then this is pretty damn good.

5 Minute Apple Cake

5tbs flour
4tbs brown sugar
1 egg
3tbs milk
3tbs oil
1 cooking apple
1 large mug

1. Chop apple into bitesize pieces.
2. Mix flour and sugar.
3. Add egg and mix.
4. Add milk and oil and mix well.
5. Add apple and stir till coated.
6. Microwave on high for 2-3 mins.

It comes out kinda gooey with a sweet apply sauce that tends to bubble over the edge. Mixing in a bit of vanilla or cinnamon is also good, as is sprinkling cinnamon sugar over the top before cooking. Mmmmm!

then skip the egg replacer in the dry mix, that makes it cheaper.  I wonder how well it would do without both egg and oil., I'll have to try it and get back to you, unless someone else needs choclate more.
