One of our currently absent staff members wrote these poems to honor Chavi.

Chavi Ravenna,
Storyteller Cat.
Lover of life,
Collector of hats.

Gone too soon
But never forgot.
You'll live in our hearts
Whether you know it or not.

Chavi Ravenna
Bright shining star.
We'll love you forever,
Wherever you are.

Chavi Ravenna,
Storyteller Cat.
We'll miss you forever,
Wherever you're at.

(by celtee)

The anniversary is come
This day once a year
Our hearts now are heavy
We’ll shed many tears

Chavi Ravenna
Your spirit lives on
Always we remember
Tho two years have gone

Our memories of you
Are now bittersweet
But close to our hearts
We ever shall keep

Chavi Ravenna
Sweet shining star
Always so close
Yet ever so far

Storyteller Cat
Dux Bellorum, War Duke
This day we salute you
And laugh through our tears

Celtee

Chavi Ravenna,

Lover of life,
Collector of hats.

A cup of coffee, a candle lit, a silly hat upon my head.

Tears have welled up many times when I remember my loss, but quickly I turn to laughter and joy, for I called Cat my friend.  We were coreligionists, distant cousins, friends.  I was blessed to have known her, and only regret that we didn't get to meet in person as planned.

That's alright, though, because we will meet someday, when it is my turn to journey West, to Tir na Nog.

Thank you, Chavi, for being the inspiration for facing my cancer diagnosis and treatments. Without your example, I'm sure I would have faced the disease in a different, less positive manner.

I just lit our candle in Chavi's memory. It will burn all day for her here in Texas.

I'm going to be lighting a candle later (one of my local beeswax candles that were going to be used for Bast, but I don't think She minds), and am in the midst of putting up an avatar with a funny hat.

Good night Chavi

You reminded me of her memorial announcement:

The Parting Glass

Of all the money e'er I had,
I spent it in good company.
And all the harm I've ever done,
Alas! it was to none but me.
And all I've done for want of wit
To mem'ry now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all

Oh, all the comrades e'er I had,
They're sorry for my going away,
And all the sweethearts e'er I had,
They'd wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot,
That I should go and you should not,
I gently rise and softly call,
Good night and joy be with you all.

If I had money enough to spend,
And leisure time to sit awhile,
There is a fair maid in this town,
That sorely has my heart beguiled.
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips,
I own she has my heart in thrall,
Then fill to me the parting glass,
Good night and joy be with you all.

Mine will be lit starting at 7pm CDT and burn for about 3 hours, or until I go to bed, whichever happens first. (Can't let it go all night, kitties prowling...)

For those who didn't know Chavi, would you all care to explain the hat? Smiley

During treatment she lost her hair, so she needed hats to keep her head warm.  I made her several, and she was given a number of others- most of them funny.

Candle lit.  Would have earlier, but this is the first chance I've really gotten, right at 8pm.  Been a heckuva day.
