Hey ya'll, ever since I agreed to lead this SIG I feel like I haven't been around that much. Real life, depression and the last semester of my college career can, I guess, take up a lot of time and energy.

I'm happy there are new topics popping up here and there occasionally; I think there are some great discussions happening.

That said, I need ya'lls opinion. I'd like to start making this SIG a more active place again, but frankly, I'm a little uncertain as to how to do that. So I turn to you guys.

What would ya'll like to see here in the SIG to make things more active/interesting to you? Are you interested in trying to return to the core planning and decision making of RCR? Are you interested in weekly topics (such as Juni started)? What kind of suggestions, projects, ideas, anything, if any, do ya'll have for trying to boost this SIG up a little?

Thanks everyone--I really appreciate it.

Well, I really enjoyed the whole idea of Juni's weekly disscussion prompts.  If you would like some help with this, I would be glad to pitch in.  We could also post news around the Celtic Regions, or related issues surrounding our sacred lands.

What would ya'll like to see here in the SIG to make things more active/interesting to you?

I'd be interested in discussing how to apply CRish beliefs to our actual practices.

F'ex, there's a thread about prayer beads right now in the Worship and Ritual board (http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?topic=8704.0).  One poster described using prayer beads to count the desired number of times a mantra is chanted.  I'd love to use prayer beads, and I love the idea of using beads to count recitations of a mantra, but I don't have any ideas about how to apply that to my own practice.  IOW, what kinds of Celtic chants, prayers, songs, mantras, etc. would lend themselves to use with prayer beads?

Another example:  I asked recently about how often people make offerings (http://www.ecauldron.net/forum/index.php?topic=8631.0).  I'd be very interested in other CRish people's ideas on this -- and some discussion about *why* they make offerings as often as they do.

I think our individual beliefs might differ too widely for us to try to define a path called "Reformed CR" and have that path work for everyone involved in this SIG.  At a minimum, I'm *sure* the foci of our beliefs vary widely.  F'ex, I'm focused tightly on Brighid, while others honor a much larger pantheon.

However, I do think we could discuss tangible ways to put our various beliefs into practice.

If that makes any sense.

Makes a lot of sense to me.
I still don't think that I could call myself a CR. At least not in a way, that most other CRs would and could accept.
But I feel such a strong connection to the Gaulish past of my home.

Like Moon Ivy said, I'd really be interested in practice.
How to live my spiritual path is a big question for me at the moment. So I'd be happy to participate in such discussions.

Well, I like Moon Ivy's suggestions.

I'm here because I want to put together a personal practice of Irish Wicca that blends in real elements of ancient and modern celtic paganism. Not just Wicca with shamrocks. The CR and the Druid communities have the scholarly knowledge I need to research the Irish paganism. I like this SIG because we've got folks focused on the practical along with the scholarly... if I just wanted to discuss academic texts I could go get another college degree somewhere.

Thank you all for your responses--I think I'll hold off actively thinking about this until I am no longer sick ( Sad hopefully not this whole weekend!) and until a few other regulars around here chime in.

I had a feeling these would be the kinds of answers I'd get, and hope my instincts are correct in wanting to start pushing some new things around here.

I still don't think that I could call myself a CR.

I'm not a CR either.  I thought I would be, a while back.  But then I ended up focusing on only one deity, which is definitely not a CR thing.  Also, while I'm intensely interested in the history and archeology, I'm also interested in UPG and in practicality.

And I also have come to believe that Brighid is actually a pre-Celtic and pan-cultural Being.  So I'm trying to take a longer view, rather than restrict my thinking to a particular culture or age.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that you're welcome to participate in this SIG.  We don't have entrance requirements.  So far...  Cheesy

I'd like information about about that myself. I recently took up beading and I have been thinking about making my own prayer beads. I know that Celtic Christians use prayer/rosary beads and I think that we Pagans can use them as well.

I've been finding myself moving away more from CR and moving more toward Druidry. I'd like to see more information about Druidry, though I'm not sure how many Druids we actually have here on TC.

Probably not enough for a whole new SIG. I'm an ADF member, but I really consider myself primarily Wiccan. I've not studied ADF druidry enough yet to really understand their cosmology and ritual structure. I'm getting there. I plan to finish their dedicant program this year (give or take a few months).

I didn't want a whole new SIG to be created. I was just thinking that since there are Druids who started out as CRs and since there are a lot of similarities between CR and Druidry, there might could be more info on Druidry here on this SIG.

Well, really just for people to post more questions about Druidry here in this SIG, or explain how they perform rituals or celebrate the Celtic holidays, how they decided to become a Druid, etc. I've been reluctant to post much about Druidry here because I wasn't sure if questions/posts about Druids would be seen as appropriate in this SIG. I don't know how many Druids we have here on TC. So I've been reluctant in posting because I wasn't sure if my posts would receive many replies.

I don't think you should refrain from posting druidry-related questions, especially in this SIG.  I'm not the SIG leader, but as one of the people who was involved in starting this SIG, I do think druid questions have enough in common with anything else that would fit in the category or "reformed CR".

Actually, I don't think there are that many strict CRs at TC.  Most of us who participate in this SIG are more like CRish.  F'ex, I have a lot of interest in Celtic history, archeology, mythology, etc.  However, because I worship only one deity out of a much larger pantheon, and because my practice is based largely on UPG, I am not a CR.  But the kinds of discussions I'm interested in are similar enough to the kinds of discussions others here are interested in.

So, yeah, I'd be interested in druidry-related topics.   Smiley
