Does that cure writer's block?

It does!  In the same way that hitting your thumb with a hammer works as anesthetic when getting a tooth pulled.  Grin  Which is to say, at least it's a different kind of pain to focus on...  (And, very slightly more seriously, sometimes if you can stop thinking about how stuck you are for a bit, ideas will start coming again.)

Off to try beating head on desk repeatedly and see if it helps...

Blackdragon, I hope you figure it out soon I know how frustrating it can be at times.

My TOTAL sympathy!

I find working on a completely different project can help.  Like basket weaving. Cheesy

Or knitting.  Exactly!  I f ind that if I get into "the zone" on something else, my subconscious will pop up with a delicious idea for the Blank Page of Death.

When I "give up" for the time being, I acknowledge that the idea will strike later.  (Typically, it'll interrupt a sound sleep at 3am :> )

I was given acupuncture as pain relief during the second child birth - it felt exactly like that! Cheesy

I once had an idea strike in the middle of the laundry. I suddenly realized that another dead body would solve my delima. I stopped by my husband's work that afternoon to tell him about it.

After I left his boss said 'your wife is in a better mood'

My husband already focused on what he was doing said absentmindedly 'oh yeah she's always in a better mood when she's killed someone.

You'll have to explain this too me because I tried to kill someone recently and ended up crying for two days and ultimately changed my mind.  But I know, someone needs to die soon.

Isn't everybody?

When ever I get pissed off at someone, I turn them into throwaway characters in my story who die in the most horrible ways you can imagine.  It's a total catharsis and I always feel bertter afterwords.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you have a character you know is going to die, don't become too attached to them.  However, there are times when you just don't see a death coming and you just know that that is how this individual's story ends.  Saddly, this is something that I have learned recently.  I am no where near that point yet so I have time to brace myself.  I know writing that scene would be painful, nonetheless.

Yeah, I'm with Mel.  killing off MAIN characters can be hard.

Just leaving an extra body around isn't.

I do my best to avoid bumping off main characters.
