That's the problem. This character took on a life of his own and I ended up too attached. I think I've figured out who to kill though. Joy is getting to be a sniveling whiner so maybe it's time to kill Joy? Really, no pun intended I really have a character named Joy and she's driving me nuts.
So, the answer to writers block is not hitting the head repeatedly on the desk, it's killing someone *taking notes*.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. When I killed Nightshade it made me feel better but offing Suzanne made me cry and I was grumpy for days after. Which is funny because Suzanne's death is more central to the plot. And when I got to the part where Emma learns she's dead I cried all over again
And sometimes you throw a perfectly good dead body under their noses and your characters say to each other 'just ignore her, she's only trying to get attention.' One time they just got up and walked out of the police station to the bar across the street ( I knew I shouldn't have put it there) and stayed there for nearly a month ignoring all attempts to get them back on track.
