Book Review:
Wiccan Rituals and Blessings (CD)

Author: Starhawk
CD, 75 minutes
Publisher: Sounds True
Publication date: 2003
List: US$15.95
ISBN: 1591791138

This CD, which I ordered from One Spirit Book Club, consists of 11 separate tracks, ranging from an introduction and an explanation of Earth-based spirituality through various blessings, and ending with a final blessing.

This CD consists of the spoken word, thus enabling the book to function as a mini-class in ritual working, which is what it is intended to do. Starhawk does not just give you rituals and blessings. She gives you insight into how and why the rituals and blessings can help you in your daily life.

Her voice is melodious and pleasant to listen to. Perhaps the only negative things which can be said about her presentation is that it tends to be a bit dogmatic. She speaks of Pagan traditions as if they are common to all Pagan belief systems. She does acknowledge, in the introduction that there are thousands of Pagan beliefs, but then seems to imply that they have similarities which are cross-cultural.

This CD deserves to be in the library of Pagans everywhere. It can easily serve as an inspiration for the creation of personal rituals. It draws from her own experiences as well as those of others.
